Synchronicity or Coincidence?
Since reading The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield in the early 2000s, I have been a strong believer in synchronicity, that there are no coincidences, and that these connections happen because we are meant to notice them.
Those moments where you think, “Wow, what a coincidence”, and then feel compelled to share them… I believe these are moments where the universe is connecting with us on a deeper, soul level, reminding us of who we are and what our purpose is.
There are so many patterns and messages in life, yet many people ignore them, either brushing them off as coincidence or not noticing them at all.
Working with the Law of Attraction since I was a teenager means that I tend to notice everything; messages through songs, number plates, overheard conversations, even a slogan on a T-shirt. To me, these are all signs that I am aligning more closely with my goals and dreams.
At the same time, I also live in the “real” world. Many of my friends and family don’t share the same beliefs, so when I’m with them, I meet them where they are. And when I’m with my spiritual circle, I can fully be in that space too.
Recently, I was on a trip to the West End with a good friend I’ve known since school. We have a lot in common and share many viewpoints, but spirituality isn’t something she connects with in the same way.
As we often do, we spoke about our children, the concerns as well as the wins. On this day, she opened up about her son. She was worried about his mental health and some of his lifestyle choices. He had taken a week off work to rest, which left her feeling uncertain, would he go out, would he engage, what was really going on for him? I reassured her, but I also felt I didn’t have the full picture.
We went on to have a lovely day, lunch at Battersea Power Station, followed by a river cruise, and then a walk with an ice cream in Victoria Gardens. Initially, we had planned to stay around Battersea, but the pull of the Thames on a sunny day led us onto the Clipper.
Even then, our plans kept shifting, we thought about getting off at Embankment and returning to Battersea, but then changed our minds again and decided to head home from there instead.
When we stepped onto the platform, it was relatively quiet… and there, completely unexpectedly, stood her son.
It felt so random, so out of place, and yet, in that moment, so right.
They greeted each other warmly, and he said hello to me too. I hadn’t seen him for a couple of years, so we began to catch up. When he asked what I was doing, I shared about my spiritual work, and he was genuinely interested.
He even commented on how his mum had a spiritual friend when she wasn’t like that herself, and found it fascinating that I work in the spiritual field.
He then shared that he had been exploring his own spiritual path, trying different practices, and that this had left him with the ability to see lights and energy around people, though he didn’t know what it was.
I gently explained that he may be seeing auras. He seemed surprised, but open. I could feel that something resonated, and he said he would look into it further.
The conversation flowed naturally all the way home, and I could see the relief on my friend’s face. She seemed lighter, reassured, and genuinely happy that we had met him at that moment.
A week later, when I saw her again, she told me how much that meeting had meant. She was smiling, and it was clear how much peace it had brought her. She also shared how much she appreciated the way I had interacted with him.
I felt a quiet sense of satisfaction, not from doing anything extraordinary, but from simply being present in a moment that seemed to matter.
So I ask… was that coincidence?
Or was it synchronicity, where her need to understand her son, his need to understand what he was experiencing, and our presence at that exact moment all aligned?
For me, it felt like synchronicity at its finest.
If you’ve been noticing moments like this in your own life, perhaps they are not random at all.
